Our Mission

Our mission at Strictly Muscles is to use an Integrated Approach of Exercise and Muscle Activation Techniques to assess, correct, improve, and maintain the muscular system in order to prevent or recover from joint breakdown or dysfunction.

PREPARE YOUR BODY FOR OPTIMAL FUNCTION!

The primary benefit of MAT is its ability to assess, prepare, improve, and manage an individual’s muscular system contractile capabilities. Tightness is the body’s protective mechanism to create "joint stability". MAT uses tightness to address the underlying issue, which is being caused by specific weakened or over stressed muscles. MAT does not force change on the body but works with it to make improvements, strategically negotiating changes in motion and muscle contraction.

Our staff is certified or pursuing MAT Master Level Specialists.

Other Benefits

  • Improve motor control and coordination
  • Increase muscular strength
  • Improve limb range of motion
  • Decrease joint deterioration
  • Improve body awareness and confidence

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT™) can be beneficial to individuals who are extremely active or for people who are being reintroduced to exercise after many years of a sedentary life style or recovering from an injury.  MAT™ prepares your body for exercise or helps people recover from the stresses of life.

MAT may be for you if...

you are someone who is

  • Frustrated with joint pains that limit your daily life.
  • Tired of neck and shoulder pain from sitting at a desk all day.
  • Overwhelmed by the stresses of a job and worried about the body breaking down.
  • Concerned about the aging process and who wants to be proactive instead of reactive.
  • Confused about how or where to start exercising without injury after being sedentary.
  • Afraid that insurance-allotted physical therapy, even following surgery, isn’t enough to prepare the body to resume exercise.
  • Discouraged that a nagging injury is hindering athletic performance.

How does MAT work?

Recall a time when you were involved in a group project and imagine there were 5 people in the group. What happens if 3 people don’t do their jobs, essentially just leaving the group? Not only would the other 2 people be forced to do the entire project themselves they would be stressed, angry, and extremely tired in the process, creating an unfavorable environment for themselves and everyone else. Our goal is to bring back the missing group members (muscles who have diminished contractile efficiency), which shares the workload across individuals and improves the group dynamics (decreases individual overworked muscle(s), injury, and pain). Ultimately leading to a successful project outcome (improved joint mobility and reduced wear on joint surfaces). Result: An efficiently contracting muscular system leads to better movement, including exercise, and a happier, healthier body.

Our unique philosophy

So you want to workout, but you feel:

  •  Worried if you are even able to workout.
  • Restricted in your workouts do to a past injury.
  • Hesitant to do specific exercises, due to pain.
  • Nervous about reinjuring yourself.
  • Limited because of residual back pain.
  • Fragile because of horrible knee issues.

At Strictly Muscles we understand people want to workout, but how prepared are they to workout?

We lean toward a very risk adverse philosophy.  We have a system which prepares an individual for exercise, rather then just throwing exercises at them, hoping something sticks, while not getting hurt. We believe in working with the body's ability rather then telling it what it should do.  We rely on the philosophy and tools developed by Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT™) and the strategic application of forces to the body gleaned from the   Resistance Training Specialist Program.

Imaging you are watching a movie.  An entire movie consists of individual frames and when they are combined together you develop a motion picture. Now what if there are sections of the frames missing?  Turns out to be a pretty hard movies to watch.  Your body works the same way.  If you are unable to sustain specific positions, then your overall motions may not be to great, which limits your ability to exercise efficient and safely.

Now apply that to exercise. When a demand is placed on the neuro-muscular system during exercise, the muscular system is required to react to and manage the forces through positions and motions of the entire body via the muscular system’s ability to contract. If the muscular system cannot contract effectively this may negatively affect one’s ability to participate in exercise. Motor control may be diminished resulting in an increased risk of injury to various components of human physiology while exposed to the forces associated with exercise and activities of daily life.

As Muscular system specialists,  we work to improve the current state of an individual’s muscular system by restoring and improving the contractile ability of individual "frames" or muscles. Then we start incorporating an exercise regiment to improve the muscular system ability and tolerance.
